VOLCANIC LAVA AGGREGATE (RED, BROWN, & BLACK)
Our lava aggregate is an **ultra-lightweight volcanic material** sourced from high-quality deposits in **Southern Türkiye**, near the port of Iskenderun (Yumurtalik).
It is volcanic in origin, primarily composed of volcanic glass, and is typically silica-rich (acidic), though occasionally more basic types are found. Its unique characteristics make it ideal for applications requiring structural integrity combined with greatly reduced weight.
Key Characteristics & Color Varieties
Ultra-Lightweight & Porosity
- **Extremely Low Dry Bulk Density:** 550–800 kg/m³ – placing it among the lightest lava stones worldwide.
- **High Porosity:** Up to 85%, allowing the stone to float under certain conditions—a rare characteristic for volcanic rock.
- **Comparison to Pumice:** Naturally darker but similarly lightweight—ideal where reduced weight with structural integrity is needed.
Color Varieties
Our lava is available in a striking range of natural tones, influenced by mineral composition and oxidation level:
- **Reddish Lava:** Warm red-brown tones offer a distinctive, earthy appeal, perfect for horticulture, decorative ground cover, and landscaping.
- **Black Lava:** Features an intense, deep color that is exceptionally rare in the market. It combines striking aesthetics with proven lightweight benefits, ideal for high-end architectural projects and premium substrate blends.
- **Brown/Dark Grey:** The natural color range bridges the gap between the red and deep black variants.
Applications & Industries
Applications
- **Horticulture & Landscaping:** Soil amendment for improved drainage and aeration, greenhouse & nursery substrates, decorative ground cover, and mulching material.
- **Specialized Soil Mixes:** Component in cactus and succulent soil mixes, carrier material in hydroponic or soilless growing systems.
- **Construction:** Component in cement, building materials, and road & civil construction.
- **Industrial Filler:** Used in the chemical industry as a filler for plastics, paper, paints, and varnishes.
